This identification
is based on the family's appearance together on the 1860
census. Anna Maria, her husband and oldest daughter were
all listed in Walter Tenfelde's book Auswanderungen und
Auswanderer aus dem ehemaligen Kreise Lingen nach Nordamerika.
Their names and ages on the entries in the book corresponded
with those on the census although the oldest daughter's
place of birth on the census was incorrect. Date and place
of birth, parent's names, and marriage and emigration information
were all from the Tenfelde entry.

possible names of his parents were known from a presumed
sister who was a witness at his marriage at Holy Trinity
parish. Meppen parish records were checked and a corresponding
birth/bapt entry was found there for him. Information
about the children was from parish records at St Joseph
parish and Holy Trinity in St Louis.

in Auswanderungsliste fuer die fruehere Pfarrgemeinde

his probable place of birth and parents' names. That information
was then verified in records online for the Netherlands
at www.genlias.nl for Geert Harm Jannink. Information
on both wives was found in his bio-sketch and the online
IL marriage index. Information about the children was
from the bio-sketch and censuses.

Thecla's approximate year of birth was known
from her age on the passenger list of the ship Rockall. Because her children were
baptized in Soegel parish, that parish's records were checked again and a corresponding
birth/baptism entry was found there for Anna Tecla. The parents' names as noted above were
taken from that record. Anna Tecla has not yet been found on a document in America but it
seems likely that after the family's arrival in America she would have lived in St Louis,
for at leaset a while, with her children. Her husband died in St Louis the year after
their arrival and several of the children were married in the same city. At least 2 of the
children moved to St Libory, IL in the late 1850s, early 60s.

Johan Gerhard's
date of birth was on his MO death certificate. His approximate
emigration year was known from censuses. That information
corresponded with an emigrant on the ship Hansa who
was also known from the family's entry on the 1852 census
for Klein Stavern. So Soegel parish records were checked
and a corresponding entry was found there for Johan Gerhard
one year earlier than than the death certificate date and
on Jan 3 instead of Jan 1. In support of this ID is the
fact that several siblings who arrived on the ship Hansa
settled in or near St Louis.

approximate year of birth was known from his age (78) at
death. His probable place of birth was known from an emigration
index entry for his wife. Herzlake parish records were checked
for their marriage record which noted his date of birth
and parents' names. His birth/bapt record was not found
at the same parish but was found at neighboring Haseluenne

This ID is not 100% certain
but seems likely.
Gesina Adelheid's parish death record at St Boniface gave
her surname as Engbers nata Jaske, wife of Bernard Engbers.
Unfortunately her year of birth was hidden in the binding
(on the filmed image) and parents were not named. Nevertheless,
a corresponding entry was fround in Walter Tenfelde's
book Auswanderungen und Auswanderer aus dem ehemaligen
Kreise Lingen nach Nordamerika for Anna Gesina Adelheid
Jasken, widow of Johan Bernard Engbers. Information noted
above about birth, parents, marriage and emigration was
taken from that entry.

Annas month
and year of birth and year of emigration were on the
1900 census. Her husbands name was on the 1880
census. That information corresponded with an entry
for her in Walter Tenfelde's book Auswanderungen
und Auswanderer aus dem ehemaligen Kreise Lingen nach
Nordamerika which gave limited information but included
a place of birth. The Emsbueren online datenbank was
checked and that source gave exact birth information,
parents names (with fathers suname as Lueken)
and information concerning her 3 children born in Ksp
Emsbueren.
