Angela's month and year of
birth were noted on the 1900 census. Because her surname
was known to have occurred in Papenburg parish, that parish's
records were checked and a corresponding birth/bapt entry
found there for Engelina. Her parents' names as noted
above were from that record and both have been found on
record in Quincy. Information about Angela's marriage
was from the Illinois state-wide marriage index and about
her death from the Illinois state-wide death index.

both marriage dates. Those dates were then verified in Doerpen parish records. Everhard's
parents' names, as noted above, were taken from his birth/baptism record. more about sources used

This ID is not 100% certain but seems
probable.
Bernard's approximate year of birth was known from his
age on the 1870 census. Considering the names of witnesses
for various Boelscher marriages, it seems that Bernard
was closely related to both Joseph and Angela Boelscher
who were born in Klein Dohren. So Herzlake parish records
were checked and a birth/bapt entry was found there for
Bernhard Lucas, brother of Joseph and Maria Angela, 2
years earlier than the birth year indicated by the census.

Benedict's approximate year of birth was known from the
1870 census. Date and place of birth were noted on an
emigration index for someone with his name and probable
parents were known from a presumed brother at whose wedding
Benedict was a witness in St Louis in 1868. Herzlake parish
records were checked and a corresponding birth/bapt entry

Stefan Remme's website. It gave the same date and month as in Wendy Knutson's database but
one year earlier. Engelbert's parents' names were taken from that baptismal record. The

were checked and it was found that they had a brother
Herman Heinrich born in 1835. One of the Klein Dohren

His sister Maria Gesina, who also had lived in Clinton
County, was known to have been born in Klein Dohren so
Dr Remme's online database of Herzlake parish records
was checked and a corresponding birth/bapt entry was found
there for Johan Gerhard 3 years later than his age at
death indicated. Another brother, Johan Bernard, was born
in 1837 but the death record had the name as Johan Gerhard
and a Johan Gerhard Book did emigrate from Herzlake parish
in 1868 so it is presumed his age at death was noted incorrectly.

Maria Gesina's approximate year of birth
was known from her age on the 1860 census. Her parents'
were named on her marriage record at St Joseph parish.
Because her surname was known to have occurred in Herzlake
parish, that parish's records were checked in Dr Remme's
online database for the parish and a corresponding birth/bapt
entry was found there for Maria Anna Gesina.

Her parents' names were on her death record. Because other

parish's records were checked and a corresponding birth/bapt
entry was found there for Maria Gesina 2 days earlier
than her tombstone birthdate. Her marriage was at St Damian

Information about Anna Gesina was known from
family research and from the book Auswanderungsliste fuer die fruehere Pfarrgemeinde
Twist in den Jahren 1838 - 1910 nach Amerika which gave her birthdate as Dec 14, 1834.
Twist parish records were checked and a corresponding entry found there for Anna Gesina a
couple of weeks later than the date given in the Twist book. The parents' names as noted
above were taken from that record. The marriage date is from Dutch records and is about 3
months earlier than the date given in the Twist book. Death information was taken from a
family history. The Twist book listed one child born in 1863 in Holland, but family
history and censuses list a child with the same name born 1867-68 in Holland. It is not
clear if these were references to the same child or to two different children. Information
about the other children was mostly from a family history. more about sources used |

Herman Heinrich's approximate date of birth
was known from his age on the passenger list of the ship Johan George and on the
Father Helias census. An entry was found for him and his family in the book Auswanderungsliste
fuer die fruehere Pfarrgemeinde Twist in den Jahren 1838 - 1910 nach Amerika which
gave his parents' names and listed birthdates for all of his children and said Herman
Heinrich was from Schwartenberg and his wife from Lindloh, both in Ruetenbrock parish. His
birth/baptism record was not found in Ruetenbrock but was found in the neighboring parish
of Wesuwe.
It appears that the family either moved away from central MO before 1850 or all members of
the family except daughter Angela died before the census of that year. There is a gap of
several years in the Father Helias' death records in the late 1840s so the fate of this
family may never be known with certainty. more about sources used |

This ID is not 100% certain but seems
likely.
Angela's approximate year of birth was known from the
1850 census. It is known from the 1839 Westphalia parish
census that someone with the that name and age were
living in the same place at that time. It seems that
her parents and siblings probably died before 1850 and
that she was adopted by the Ottensmeier family. Angela's
probable place of birth was known from an entry for
the family in the book Auswanderungsliste fuer die
fruehere Pfarrgemeinde Twist in den Jahren 1838 - 1910
nach Amerika. Twist parish records were checked
and a corresponding birth/bapt entry was found there
for Maria Angela.

Gesina's husband Herman's year of birth
was known from his age on the 1880 census. Because that
surname occurred in Gross Hesepe parish, that parish's
records were checked and a corresponding marriage record
was found there for them which supplied her surname,
date and place of birth and parents' names. Gross Hesepe
parish records were checked again and a corresponding
birth/baptism entry was found there for Gesina Adelheid.
