| SOURCES: |
Maria Adelheid's
parents' names were not on her marriage record at St. Francis
Xavier parish but they were known from the family's entry
on the passenger list of the ship Luntine which also
supplied Maria Adelheid's probable place of birth. Her exact
date of birth was on her tombstone. The records of Meppen
parish were checked and a corresponding baptismal entry
was found there for her. The children's information was
taken from the 1870 census and the oldest three have been
verified in the baptismal records of St. Francis Xavier
parish.

from the 1900 census. That information allowed entries
for all of them to be identified in Walter Tenfelde's
book Auswanderungen und Auswanderer aus dem ehemaligen
Kreise Lingen nach Nordamerika which gave their exact
birth information. Records for Sts Mary and Joseph parish
in Carondelet, MO were checked and a corresponding baptismal
entry was found there for Johan Bernard Heinrich. Although
Bernard was born in the US, he returned to Germany as
a child, married there and started his family there before
they emigrated together in 1882. Information about his

Ludwig is a confusing emigrant because,
after initially emigrating in 1841, he returned to Germany
at least twice for extended stays. Ludwig's parents' names
were noted on his marriage record at the Old Cathedral
in 1841 and his age was found on a passenger list earlier
that same year which also gave his place of origin. Lengerich
parish records were checked and a corresponding entry
was found there for Ludwig. Information about his children
was found in Walter Tenfelde's book Auswanderungen
und Auswanderer aus dem ehemaligen Kreise Lingen nach
Nordamerika and in St Louis parish baptismal records.
