known from his age (67) at death and on the 1880 census.
Because his surname was known to have occurred in Lengerich
parish, that parish's records were checked first for a
marriage record, which noted date and place of birth,
parents' names and wife's surname, and then for his birth/bapt
entry in the baptismal records of the same parish. His
parents' names as noted above were from those records.

Anna Maria's date of birth was on her
parish death record. Her children had been born in Gross
Dohren so Herzlake parish records were checked first for
a marriage record which was found and supplied her parents'
names and probable place of birth. Lengerich parish records
were then checked and a corresponding birth/bapt entry
was found there for her 22 days later than the death record
birthdate.
