Gerhard Heinrich's
parents' names were on his marriage record at St. Joseph
parish. An entry was found for him in Walter Tenfelde's
book Auswanderungen und Auswanderer aus dem ehemaligen
Kreise Lingen nach Nordamerika but on that entry (taken
from parish baptismal records) the mother's surname was
KLEINE while it was HOLTHAUSEN on Gerhard Heinrich's marriage
record. Nevertheless, it seems very likely that this identification
is correct because his name is not very common. The
mother's surname may have been changed because of a subsequent
marriage or for reasons to do with property. The Tenfelde
entry says Gerhard Heinrich died in 1867 in America so it
will not be possible to find his age on a census to help
with the identification. He was in America only 3 years
1864-67 and his death record has not yet been found. Emigration
information was from the Tenfelde entry and the passenger
list of the ship George on microfilm.

Family researcher Denis Feld knew the
birthdate and parents' names of his ancestor Lucas from various records in St. Louis. The
baptismal record of a sibling was found by chance in Holte parish records while doing
research for this project and that provided Lucas' probable place of birth. Denis then
asked the Catholic Family Research Facility in Meppen to check that parish's records for
Lucas' baptism and it was found there. Lucas' marriage was at Sts Peter and Paul
parish and the children were baptized at the same parish. Death information was from obits
in St Louis newspapers and cemetery records. more about sources used |

This ID is not 100% certain
but seems likely.
Maria Catharine's approximate year of birth was known
from her age (65) at death. Her probable place of birth
was known from an emigration index entry thought to have
been for her and her children. Holte parish records were
checked first for a marriage record which noted parents'
names and then for a corresponding birth/bapt entry. Supporting
this ID is the fact tht 3 of the 4 children mentioned
on the emigration index entry married in St Louis, MO
in the late 1860s.

closely with information known from earlier research which
included date and place of birth for Anna Feringa, wife

the Wesuwe parish records. Information about the children
was taken from transcribed Nodaway County cemetery records
for Jefferson Township, St Columba transcribed burial records
and the 1900 census.
