FASTABEND

FASTABEND, Gerhard Heinrich
BORN: Aug 20, 1834, Laxten (parish in Lingen)
DIED: 1867 in America
PARENTS: Wilhelm FASTABEND
Maria Adelheid KLEINE
EMIGRATION: 1864 - arrived NY Nov 8, 1864 on the ship George
Gerhard FASTABEND, 30, from Germany
MARRIED: Maria Adelheid SCHNIEDERS
marriage: Apr 20, 1865, St. Louis, MO
SOURCES: Gerhard Heinrich's parents' names were on his marriage record at St. Joseph parish. An entry was found for him in Walter Tenfelde's book Auswanderungen und Auswanderer aus dem ehemaligen Kreise Lingen nach Nordamerika but on that entry (taken from parish baptismal records) the mother's surname was KLEINE while it was HOLTHAUSEN on Gerhard Heinrich's marriage record. Nevertheless, it seems very likely that this identification is correct because his  name is not very common. The mother's surname may have been changed because of a subsequent marriage or for reasons to do with property. The Tenfelde entry says Gerhard Heinrich died in 1867 in America so it will not be possible to find his age on a census to help with the identification. He was in America only 3 years 1864-67 and his death record has not yet been found. Emigration information was from the Tenfelde entry and the passenger list of the ship George on microfilm.
