who is descended from Gesina's brother |
| SOURCES: |
Most information was supplied by Anita
Henning. She knew Gesina's approximate year of birth from her death record and that
allowed her to be identified as a sister of Herman Hamers on a research document which was
based on records from Steinbild parish. From that document her date and place of birth and
parents' names were known. Confirming the relationship with Herman was the fact that
Herman's wife, Thecla Frerkes, was godmother for Gesina's child born in 1869 and Gesina
was godmother for a child of Herman's that same year. more about sources used |

This ID is not 100% certain because
Maria's parents' names are not known from her
marriage record and her death record has not yet
been found.
An approximate year of birth is known from an
1860 census entry thought to have been for her
which corresponded to the age of Maria Gesina
on the passenger list of the ship Albert
and to the age of Maria Gesina on the 1852 Wiste
census. Maria died less than 2 years after her
marriage so she would have no further documented
presence in the US.
In support of this ID is the fact that the brothers
(Herman, Johan Albert, Johan Bernard and Johan
Wilhelm) of Maria Gesina born in 1843 all settled
in Calhoun County and brother Lucas, who settled
in St Louis, was also living in Calhoun County
from 1862 to 1864. So at the time of Maria's marriage
in 1863, all of the siblings were living in Calhoun
County.

Wessels parents'
names were on his marriage and death records and given in
the family history written by Fr Korte. His approximate
year of birth was known from his age on censuses. Werlte
parish records were checked because other Hannikens who
had settled in Calhoun County had come from there and a
corresponding birth/baptism entry was found there also for
Wessel.
