Catharine's birthdate was on her tombstone.
Because her surname was known to occur in Meppen parish,
that parish's records were checked and a birth/bapt entry
was found there for Anna Maria Catharine 5 days earlier
than the date on her tombstone. Her parents' names as
noted above were taken from that record. Her marriage
was at St Joseph parish.

Baccum church records. There are entries for Anna Maria, her husband and four children in
Walter Tenfelde's book Auswanderungen und Auswanderer aus dem ehemaligen Kreise Lingen
nach Nordamerika. The emigration date and ship name are given on each of their
entries. Anna Maria's entry has her birth year only, 1826, but a record was not found for
her in the Baccum church records for 1825-27. The year 1833 was given as her year of birth
on the 1900 IL soundex and a baptismal record was found for her in that year. Information
for the youngest child was taken from the 1870 census. more about sources used |
