Johan Bernard Joseph's age (29) and his
parents' names were on his marriage record at Sts Peter
and Paul parish. The names Kahle and Fangmeyer were known
to have occurred in both Lengerich and Herzlake parishes.
Lengerich records were checked first without luck but
a record of Johan Bernard Joseph's birth/baptism was found
in Herzlake parish through Dr Stephen Remme's online website
Zur Geschichte von Dohren im Emsland which supplied
exact birth information and confirmed the parents' names.

| SOURCES: |
Elisabeth's month and year of birth and
year of emigration were noted on the 1900 census. Her
surname was known from the 1880 census and Stephen Schwartz'
WCdb. That allowed an entry for her to be identified in
Walter Tenfelde's book Auswanderungen und Auswanderer
aus dem ehemaligen Kreise Lingen nach Nordamerika
which supplied birth information and parents' names. Information
about marriage and death was from the WCdb and about children
from the same WCdb and the 1900 census.

Christian's date of birth and parents'
names were noted in the book St Clement Parish, Bowling
Green, MO, Family of Faith 1871-1996 . Because some
emigrants with the name Kampling were known to have come
from Rhede, that parish's records were checked and a corresponding
birth/bapt entry was found there for Christian. The St
Clement book also noted his year of emigration as 1875
and that the family lived in Clinton County, IL until
1888 when they moved to Garden Plain, KS.

who has this emigrant in his World Connect database |
| SOURCES: |
Bernard Wilhelm's approximate year of birth
was known from his age on the 1839 and 1850 censuses. More information about him was found
on a WorldConnect entry for him in Michael Stephen Jackson's database which gave his date
and place of birth, date and place of death, parents' names, names of both wives and date
and place of the second marriage. That birth information and his parents' names were
verified in the online Emsbueren datenbank (information taken from church records.)
Bernard Wilhelm's children were taken from Margaret Gentges' book Births and Baptisms
in Osage County, Missouri, prior to the 1880 Federal Census, of Children and Spouses of
Immigrant Families. His first marriage was found in the record book of St. Francis
Xavier in Taos which included entries for several parishes in Osage County at that time. more about sources used
