wrong by a few years. Her year of birth was found in Walter Tenfelde's book Auswanderungen
und Auswanderer aus dem ehemaligen Kreise Lingen nach Nordamerika with the birth place
as Gersten, in Lengerich parish. A birth record was found for her in that parish for in
the year mentioned by Tenfelde and Marianna's parents' names were taken from that
document. The Tenfelde entry gave her emigration year as 1842 and from that she and her
