With that information he was identified on a list of emigrants in the book by Elisabeth Behnen et al. - Berssen - Ein Dorf im Emsland - Orts- und Kirchenchronik which gave his exact date and place of birth and confirmed his parents' names. The first two children were found in the baptismal records of St Vincent de Paul parish. The remainder were from the 1870 MO census.
