Bernard Heinrich's approximate year of
birth was known from his age on censuses and at death
(49 yrs, 9 mo.) His probable place of birth was known
from emigration index entries for him. Herzlake parish
records were checked on Dr Remme's online parish database
and a corresponding birth bapt entry was found there for
him one year later than indicated by his age at death.
His parents' names as noted above were from that record.
His wife's surname was known from a family genealogy page
which is no longer online. Marriage information was from
the county marriage index.

With that information he was identified on a list of emigrants

Ein Dorf im Emsland - Orts- und Kirchenchronik which
gave his exact date and place of birth and confirmed his
parents' names. The first two children were found in the

Maria Gesina's approximate year of birth
was known from her age on censuses. Her place of birth
and parents' names were noted by Norm Brenneke in a RootsWeb
query. Lorup parish records were checked and a corresponding
birth/bapt entry was found there for her. Marriage information
was from a query.

The identification of Margaretha and
her husband was suggested by their location on the
1900 census, living nextdoor to Maria Theresa [SCHOMAKER]
CLASEMAN. That relationship and Margaretha's birth
information and year of emigration found on the same
census allowed an entry for her to be identified in
Walter Tenfelde's book Auswanderungen und Auswanderer
aus dem ehemaligen Kreise Lingen nach Nordamerika
which supplied complete date and place of birth
and parents' names. Information about the children
was from the same source.
