Catharine's parents' names were on her
marriage record at St. Joseph parish. Her name was found on the Holte parish emigration
list and from that she was identified on the passenger list of the ship Mississippi
which gave her age and said she emigrated from Haseluenne. Her husband-to-be was on the
same ship. Because of the Holte emigration list entry, that parish's records were checked
first and an entry was found there for her. Information about the children was taken from
the 1860 census. more about

year (also 1816) and place of birth (Hestrup/Handrup) and year of emigration (1840). The
records for Lengerich were checked and Clemens' baptismal record was found which gave us
his exact date of birth, 11 days later than the date on the tombstone. A corresponding
entry was found for him on the passenger list of the ship Friedrich Jacob. The
children's information is from the 1870 census. more about sources used |

Albert's approximate year of birth was
known from his age (41) at death. His wife's name was
known from an entry for the family in a Clinton County
history. Others with the same surname who settled in Clinton
County had come from Lengerich so that parish's records
were checked first for a marriage record which noted Albert's
parents' names and then for a corresponding birth/bapt
entry which was found in the records of the same parish.

Anna Maria's parents' names were on her
marriage record at the Old Cathedral. The marriage was also recorded at St Mary of
Victories parish but that entry is very hard to read. Her approximate year of birth was
known from her age (28) at death, recorded at St Joseph parish. Her surname was known to
have occurred in Lengerich parish so that parish's records were checked and a
corresponding entry found there for Maria Antonette. Her first child was baptized at the
Old Cathedral and the other two at St Joseph parish. more about sources used
