His year of emigration was noted on the 1900 census which allowed him to be identified on the passenger list of the ship Republic where he was traveling with Elisabeth, already identified as born in Vinnen, Holte. So Holte parish records were checked and a corresponding birth/bapt entry was found there for Johan Bernard with parents the same as those of Elisabeth. John B's entry on the cemetery list also gave the name of his wife and his daughter Catharine's's death was noted also.

Going by that age, her birth/baptism entry with the correct parents' names was found in the parish records for Meppen. Catharine's child's birth record was at  St. Joseph's parish.
