exact date of birth was on her tombstone. Her probable place
of birth was given on the passenger lists of the ship Luentin
. Because she and her husband had emigrated from
Varloh, Jack Martens checked the Meppen parish records and
found a marriage entry for them there. From that document,
her parents' names were known and a baptismal record was
found for her in the same parish. Information about the
children came from St. Francis Xavier records.

Lucas' date and place of birth were found on
p. 138 of the book Bormann's Sketches of Early Germans of Quincy and Adams County,
Illinois (although the date in the book was Dec 28, the same as the date on his
tombstone.) From that information a baptismal entry was found for him in the Haseluenne
parish records. The Quincy book also gave Lucas' year of emigration which allowed him to
be located on the passsenger list of the ship Diantha. His wife's name and place of
origin were also mentioned the book. Their marriage record was found at St. Mary of
Victories parish in St. Louis. Some nformation about the children was noted in the Quincy
book and the names and ages of the daughters can be seen on the 1870 census but it's not
possible to tell which daughter married each of the men stated in the book.

County, IL and his entry gives an exact date of birth, his date and place of death,
