Maria Elisabeth's parents' names and her age
(19) were on her marriage record at the Old Cathedral. Her parents were known to have been
Colonists in Hesepertwist so Twist parish records were checked and a corresponding
baptismal entry was found there for her. Maria Elisabeth married at the Old Cathedral in
St. Louis but then moved with her husband to Cole County, MO. Baptismal entries for their
children born 1843-52 were found in the St Francis Xavier, Taos, parish records.
Information about children born 1856-64 in KS was taken from Gus Sexton's WorldConnect
database as was Maria Elisabeth's death information. more about sources used |

Maria Gesina's parents' names were not on
either of her marriage records but her approximate year of birth was known from her age on
the 1860 census and the passenger list of the ship Astracan which also supplied her
parents' names. A sister's birth/baptism record had already been found in Twist parish so
those records were checked again and a corresponding entry was found there also for Maria
Gesina. Both of her marriages were at St Francis Xavier parish and all of her children
were baptized there.
