Maria Johana's parents' names were on her
marriage record at St Joseph parish. Her family was then found on the 1839 census for
Dalum and from that Maria Johanna/Anna's approximate year of birth was known. The records
of Gross Hesepe parish were checked and a baptismal entry was found there for her. Her
year of emigration was taken from an entry thought to have been for her in the Osnabrueck
emigration index. more about

Meinert's parents' names were on his marriage
record at St Vincent de Paul parish. His approximate year
of birth was known from his age (87) at death. Information
about the children was taken from St Vincent de Paul parish
records and censuses. His surname was known to have occurred
in several parishes in northeastern Emsland, especially
Holte. The records of that parish and Werlte were checked
without luck. His birth/bapt record was eventually found
in Soegel parish.

Tobias's parents' names were on his
marriage record. His approximate year of birth was known
from his age on censuses. His brother Herman, with whom
Tobias was living in 1880, was known to have come from
Laehden, so Holte parish records were checked and a
corresponding birth/bapt entry was found there also
for Tobias.
