State Censuses on microfilm
A complete set of the MO and IL censuses is available on microfilm at the St. Louis County Library Headquarters and at the St. Louis Public Library (downtown.) The Public Library also has censuses for other states Mid-Western states. A list can be found on thier website: http://www.slpl.lib.mo.us/libsrc/gene.htm.
Censuses for all states would be available through LDS Family History Centers and at regional branches of the National Archives. Patrons of the St Louis County Library can order the censuses for other states through interlibrary loan.

Libraries and Archives in St Clair County
I have been told that various resources are available at the Belleville Library, main branch - downtown, including wills, some marriage and death records. The original Naturalization papers for most of St. Clair County have been missing since 1972, but there are some indexes done by Mr. Robert Buecher and the WPA newspaper files have been kept up and there are three card files of newspaper entries.

Birth/Baptism, marriage and death/burial records for parishes in the Archdiocese of St Louis are on microfilm and part of the collection of the St Louis County Library on Lindbergh. There are also some parish histories (on microfilm) and a list of priests (1841-69) in the library's collection.
There is also a book index for marriages at St. Joseph's parish for the years Dec 1846 to November 1870 which can be helpful. Parents' names for bride and groom are noted but witnesses are not - R977.865 S143.

St Louis County Library has passenger lists on microfilm for vessels arriving at the port of New Orleans. They also have the book series Germans to America.

Military Records - Civil War 
Many German Immigrants fought in the Civil War, almost all on the side of the Union. Some records contain valuable information such as place of origin or a physical description of the soldier.
