birthdate was on his tombstone. His possible year of emigration
was known from the History of Marion and Clinton Counties
which indicated he arrived in Clinton County in 1843. That
allowed him and his first wife to be identified on the passenger
list of the ship Elaro which provided the information
that they were from Lengerich. Lengerich parish records
were checked and a corresponding birth/baptismal entry found
there for Johan Heinrich 11 days later than the tombstone
date. The parents' names noted above were taken from that
document. Both marriages were at St Boniface parish.
