| NOTES: |
Maria Louisa's connection to MO or IL is
through her husband whose brother lived for a while in Effingham County, IL, before moving
to IA. |
| SOURCES: |
After an entry for her husband Laurenz had
been found in Walter Tenfelde's book Auswanderungen und Auswanderer aus dem ehemaligen
Kreise Lingen nach Nordamerika family researchers learned the name of his wife Maria
Louisa. She too was listed in the Tenfelde book and that entry gave her date and place of
birth, parents' names, husband's name, emigration date and destination in IA. The rest of
the information was supplied by Margaret Wheeler. more about sources used

note mentioned marriage in Bremen. |

Catharine THYEN 25, who emigrated from Vinnen in 1845 to America |
| MARRIED: |
Heinrich Joseph BENTKEN his entry
marriage: in Germany, possibly in Bremen in 1845 before their departure |
| SOURCES: |
From names or witnesses and godparents on
marriage and baptism records at St. Joseph parish in St. Louis 1846-49 it is known that
Joseph Bentken's wife was named Catharine. She died before 1852 when he, as the wid of
Catharine Diem, remarried. She is probably the Catharine Albers, wife of Joseph Bentken
who died in 1849 but no reason for the use of the name Albers has been found. From
emigration and passenger lists it is known Joseph and Catharine were both from Vinnen and
travelled together to America and one note suggested that they married in Bremen before
the ship departed. Catharine's baptism entry was found in the Holte parish records. more about sources used |

Caroline's date of birth and parents'
names were found in the book St Clement Parish, Family
of Faith 1871-1996. A half sister's place of birth
had been noted in the same book as Lasbruf (Lastrup) so
Holte parish records were checked and a corresponding
birth/bapt entry was found there for Maria Gesina Caroline
a year and a few days earlier than the date noted in the
book. Information about her marriage, children and death
was from the St Clement book.

Theodor's parents'
names were not on his marriage record at Sts Peter and Paul
parish but his date of birth was known from family researchers.
The place of birth for presumed brother Joseph was thought
to have been Aschendorf so that parish's records were checked
and a corresponding entry was found there for Theodor with
the same parents that Joseph had. Information about the
children was taken from the 1860 census. The year of emigration
as 1846 is from family history.

Wilhelmina's approximate year of birth
was known from her age on the 1839 Status Animarum (census)
for Taos. Her probable place of birth was known from an
emigration index entry for her husband. Meppen parish
records were checked and a corresponding birth/bapt entry
was found there for her. Her parents names as noted above
were from that record and the children's information was
from their records at the same parish.

Wilhelmina's date of birth and her father's
name were noted on her death certificate. Her father and
all his siblings had been born in Lastrup, Holte so it
is presumed that Wilhelmina was born there also but that
information was not able to be verified because parish
records on microfishe are available to researchers only
through 1875. Wilhelmina's mother's name was found in
Russell Gaj's WCdb.

Anna Adelheid's date of
birth and her hausband's name were found in a couple
of WCdbs. That information allowed an entry for her
to be identified in Walter Tenfelde's book Auswanderungen
und Auswanderer aus dem ehemaligen Kreise Lingen nach
Nordamerika which supplied her place of birth, parents'
names and emigration information. Information about
the children was found in Dr. Heinz Marxkors' book Emigrants
from the area of the former County of Lingen. . . Hannover,
emigrated to St. Libory, St. Clair County, IL.
