Some helpful nformation about Anna Theresa
was originally found in a genealogy website which is
no longer online. The 1910 census provided the names
of her two husbands allowing their marriage records
to be located in an online county index and allowing
an entry for Anna Theresa (with errors) to be found
on the 1900 census. That entry supplied her month and
year of birth and year of emigration which led to her
family being identified on the passenger list of the
ship Leipzig. In the website no longer online
Herzlake had been noted as place of birth for a sister
of Theresa so that parish's records were checked and
a corresponding birth/bapt entry was found there for
Anna Theresa.

Bernard's month and year of birth and
parents' names were noted on the 1900 census. His parents'
names and ages corresponded with the parents of another
resident of Clinton County who had been born in Gross
Dohren so Herzlake parish records were checked and a
corresponding birth/bapt entry was found there for Bernard
Heinrich. His marriage information was from an online
county marriage index.

Johan Bernard's month and year of birth,
year of emigration, wife's first name and son's name
were noted on the 1900 census. Information about other
children was found on the passenger list of the ship
Leipzig. His age (32) and parents' names were noted
on his marriage record. That information allowed entries
for the whole family to be identified on Dr. Stefan
Remme' website Zur Geschichte von Dohren im Emsland
which gave complete birth information for each of them
and marriage information for Johan Bernard and his wife.

| SOURCES: |
Bernard Heinrich's parents' names were not on
his death record at St. Vincent de Paul parish but his age was. Someone with his name,
same age, was found on in the Osnabrueck emigration index and listed as emigrating from
Holte. That parish's records were checked and the baptismal entry for that Bernard
Heinrich was found. It is very probable that this Holte baptismal record was for the
Bernard Heinrich who died in St. Louis in 1845 but there is not enough evidence at
present to say this ID is absolutely certain. more about sources used |

Parents' names were not mentioned on the second marriage in 1850 at Sts Peter and Paul
parish so this identification cannot be absolutely certain. But the 1860 census
inforamtion makes it seem very likely. Additionally, Elisabeth Wessels was godmother in
1853 for a child of Johan Bernard Wessles and Maria Adelheid Kalkmann. more about sources used |

Lucas' parents' names were on his marriage
record at St Boniface parish. His age, as noted on several
documents, varied but the passenger list of the ship
Republic indicated he had emigrated with his
brother and mother. That brother was known to have been
born in Esterwegen, so Lorup parish records were checked
and a birth/bapt entry was found there for Lucas with
year of birth corresponding to his age on the passenger
list.
