Information on the oldest two children was taken from the passenger list of the Orion on microfilm and the younger children were from the 1850 census.

Because other Wolbers were found in the online Emsbueren parish datenbank, that source was also checked for Herman. An entry for Gerhard Herman in that database noted his date and place of birth, his parents' names, his wife's name and his year of death, information which agreed with what had been found in the WCdb except that the WCdb had his name as Herman Henry.
